The Propositions

Prop 19- Legalizes Marijuana under CA but not Federal Law. Permits Local Governments to Regulate and Tax commercial production, distribution, and sale of Marijuana. INITIATIVE STATUTE.

My Vote & why= Reconsidering... there may be too many loop holes in this bill that will allow for abuse of it. This may sway my initial support. While having my libertarian views on this possible idea, I feel that it has to be mixed with strong legislation in order to protect those who choose not to embrace cannabis. Ive been pushed back onto the fence for this issue until further notice.

Prop 20- Redistricting of congressional districts. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.

My Vote & why= Yes, this law has the potential to eliminate the Jerry-mandering that has gone on for ages. (ironic that Jerry brown is back in the spotlight) It will allow for more fair electoral districts and less of the pandering to people who will all vote one way. This will allow for more suitable candidates to come through the process. One set back is this is a very untried idea, however it is still better than the partisanship we have now. It is support by State Assembyman Chuck DeVore.

Prop 21- Establish $18 annual vehicle license surcharge to help fund state parks and wildlife programs. Grants surcharge vehicles free admission to state parks. INITIATIVE STATUTE.

My Vote & why= No No No, dont trust government to take care of any money they dont need. This is too risky and of late the government has spent money we dont have, from places that were never supposed to be touched. Limit Government is what we need and this Porp would imminently grow it.

Prop 22- Prohibits the state from borrowing or taxing funds used for transportation, redevelopment, or local government projects and services. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.

My Vote & why= No, strictly because of where out budget is in CA. We cannot afford to have money tied up anywhere. The freer the money the easier it will be to meet our budget. This also has the potential to take money from Education, Public Saftey and Senior/Disabled Services. This will also help keep money out of local bureaucrats who run the redevelopment services, and have been found to have numerous amounts of violations. Keep the money where its need and not where it can be wasted.

Prop 23- Suspends Implementation of air pollution control law (AB32) requiring major sources of emissions report and reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming, until unemployment drops to 5.5% or less for a full year. INITIATIVE STATUTE.

My Vote & why= Yes yes yes yes!!!, because we cannot afford to hinder jobs with a falsified science. Many leading scientist have come out and said that the Global Warming science is not nearly accurate and has been altered. Lets push back this fake science and money laundering scheme and worry about jobs and the economy first.

Prop 24- Repeals government legislation that would allow business to lower their tax liability. INITIATIVE STATUTE.

My Vote & why= No, This would force higher taxes on many small business, which in out economic state could prove disasterous. We need things to build state revenue and consumer confidence, not items which will further the harsh business state that CA already is. In fact CA is 50 out of 50 in worse states to do business in. Please dont vote to hurt small businesses, that will hurt us all.

Prop 25- Changes legislative vote requirement to pass budget and budget-related legislation from 2/3rds to a simple majority. Retains 2/3rds vote requirement for taxes. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.

My Vote & why=Currently Researching

Prop 26- Requires certain state and local fees be approved by 2/3rds vote. Fees include those that address adverse impacts on society or the enviornment caused by the fee-payer's business. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.

My Vote & why= Currently Researching

Prop 27- Eliminates state commission on redistricting. Consolidates authority for redistricting with elected representatives. INITIATIVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT AND STATUTE.

My Vote & why= No, This vote will protect the citizens right to voter-approved election reforms. It will not allow politicians to draw their own districts (i.e. Jerrymandering), and will thusly keep from allowing them to ignore the issues facing CA that they have failed to act upon.Voting no,  makes backroom deals harder to conduct and helps to keep corruption in check. Limits government power, which means more power to the people.
